Kent Island Racing Fleet

Fun PHRF racing for all levels of ability
The Kent Island Racing Fleet was started in the Fall of 2001 by a small group of racing enthusiasts in the Kent Narrows area on Maryland's beautiful Eastern Shore.
Our goal is to establish fun PHRF racing in the Island area that will cater for both experienced and novice racers and will offer opportunities for either regular or occasional participation.
The '02, '03 '04 and '05 seasons went very well with a program of Wednesday Night, Summer Weekend events and Fall Frostbite racing. Our fledgling fleet has continued to gather momentum and at a meeting of both skippers and crew held in January a great schedule of events for the 2006 season was enthusiastically agreed upon.
We now have three particularly elegant challenge trophies to compete for. The "Edelweiss Cup" for the Wednesday Night Series, the "Sauer Cup" for an annual Round The Island Race and the "Run What You Brung Cup" for a "romantic" race round the island under the September Harvest Moon. We are also optimistic that we can achieve some modest additional prize sponsorships this year.
We are typically seeing 5 to 7 boats out for the Wednesday Night races and, of course, more would be welcome! The start is at 6:30pm near the #1K beacon at the south entrance of the Kent Narrows and we race down to Prospect bay and back - the actual course and distance depends on how much wind we have.
It's a lot of fun and we invite you to come and join us!
