PSC's 2nd annual participation in the Kent Island Circumnavigation regatta known locally as the "Run What You Brung" regatta was a smashing success with 12 PSC boats involved. Six charter boats from Rock Hall were joined Friday evening by 6 owner boats at Mears Point marina in the Kent Narrows for a PSC Cocktail/Appetizer party as the sun set. Afterwards, one group of about 30 went off to the Kent Island Yacht Club for dinner and dancing to the rock and roll classics of the 50's while others visited some of the fine restaurants in the Narrows.

The PSC Friday Night get Together
Everyone was up bright and early Saturday morning for the planned sail around Kent Island. About a half-dozen PSC boats participated in the cruising portion of the regatta. After passing under the Kent Island drawbridge, they raised sails and sailed in some challenging light air for about 2 1/2 hours. Alas, the wind gods turned Eastern Bay into glass just before noon. The cruisers adjourned and implemented Plan B by exploring the Wye River and rafting for a peaceful, scenic lunch and some swimming. The hardier PSCers motor/sailed around the island completing the approximately 35 nm circumnavigation in about 7 hours. Regardless of the lack of wind, it was a fine fall day to be out on the water.

Saturday evening as the full moon rose in the eastern sky all 60 or so boat entrants in the regatta gathered back at the Mears Point marina for an evening of dancing to the music of the Crawdaddies band with appetizers and desserts furnished by each boat. The PSC was well represented and displayed their excellent party skills with good dancing and socializing. Some stayed past midnight, while some others helped the next morning to prepare a wonderful Sunday Brunch provided by the Mears Point marina staff before sailing back to Rock Hall. On the sail back to Rock Hall the vessel Cat's Paw was sighted with a four-foot palm tree in the cockpit!

All in all, an enjoyable weekend of boating and socializing with good friends. Stay tuned for the date for next year's 8th Annual RWYB Regatta on the Saturday nearest the full moon.
