PHRF Captain's Meeting 7:00
pm, Saturday, September 12th:
Starting line - Red Nun 2
Contact people - Monitor Channel 72
Start Time 10:00 am
Starting signals 5, 4, 1, Go!
With heavy overcast skies
and poor visibility, we had a reaching start in a
fresh easterly. We were able get spinnakers up at the Parsons
Island turn,
which we were able to hold on to after jibing around Bloody
Point as the wind
backed Southeast before it died. After two hours of slowly
drifting up the
Bay, the wind returned again and quickly built to a fresh
southeaster to give
us a beat to the finish.
The results after 30.3 nautical miles of fun and games:
1st. "Freestyle", Doug Abbott, adjusted time 6:37:11
2nd. "Edelweiss", Chris Bardwell-Jones, adjusted time 6:41:17
3rd. "Stalker", Al Holt, adjusted time 6:59:27
4th. "Leewind", Hal Wilson, adjusted time 7:07:31
5th. "Jaguar", Robert McGowan, adjusted time 7:18:09
6th. "New Broom", Paul Geppert, adjusted time 7:39:57
We also had one boat not finish and two boats not start.
Congratulations to Doug Abbot and his crew on Freestyle ...
they sailed a great race and were just too tough to beat!
I hope we will see you all
at the 2004 PHRF "RWYB Regatta Cup" challenge! |
